I run Find It. Love It. Buy It. — a smart home review site built for one
simple reason: buying smart home tech in 2026 is genuinely
confusing. There are dozens of nearly identical smart plugs, three
competing wireless standards (Matter, Zigbee, Thread), and a new
“best of 2026” listicle published every week that all say the same
thing. I started this site to cut through that noise and give people a
straight answer to “which one should I actually buy.”
How I Research Every Recommendation
I’m not a lab with a testing team — I’m one person doing the work
most buyers don’t have time to do themselves. Every recommendation
on this site goes through the same process:
- Specification comparison — I pull the actual technical specs
(protocol support, load ratings, certifications, app requirements)
for every product in a category and compare them side by side,
rather than relying on marketing copy.
- Verified user review analysis — I read through hundreds of
product, specifically looking for recurring complaints (disconnects,
short lifespan, app problems) that don’t show up in a spec sheet.
- Cross-brand and cross-ecosystem comparison — I compare
Home, Apple HomeKit, Matter) so recommendations aren’t skewed
toward whichever brand is easiest to write about.
- Ongoing revisions — Smart home products change fast. When a
works, or a genuinely better option launches, I update the relevant
post rather than leaving stale advice live.
I want to be upfront about what this is and isn’t: this is researchbased
curation, not a hands-on testing lab. I don’t claim to have
physically tested every product I recommend — where I haven’t
personally used something, the recommendation is built from verified
specs and real buyer feedback, not a guess. If I have personally used a
product, I’ll say so directly in the post.
